Non-Confidence Vote Results

Here are the results of the non-confidence vote:

363 Votes cast

YES (confidence): 70 (19%)

NO (non-confidence): 293 (81%)

In a vote initiated by TRU faculty, an overwhelming majority expressed a lack of confidence in the leadership of the University’s senior administration.

Of 363 votes cast, 81% voted “No Confidence.”

“The results of this vote should be a wake-up call to the institution for substantive change,” said Tom Friedman, TRUFA President.

“This is one of the highest faculty participation rates for a University-wide vote in 30 years,” added Friedman, “and the outcome is undeniable evidence that faculty are calling for change.”

Friedman went on to say,

“I feel that an early meeting with the TRU Board of Governors would be an appropriate first step, allowing TRUFA to present the Board with the concerns expressed by faculty.”

Approximately 740 TRU faculty members—instructors, librarians, counsellors, co-op education coordinators, learning designers and instructional support faculty—were eligible to vote.
